Happy Hour Digital LLC ("Happy Hour," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your choices regarding your information when you use our mobile application ("App").
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the App:
Account Information
- Name, email address, and profile photo
- Authentication data from Apple, Google, or email/password sign-in
- Age and gender (optional)
Profile Information
- Role, company, and bio
- Activity interests (e.g., coffee, hiking, sports)
- Social media links (Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Selected neighborhood
Location Information
- GPS coordinates used only during onboarding for city detection
- Selected neighborhood (stored as your approximate location)
- Live status venue name and approximate coordinates (when you choose to broadcast)
Usage Information
- Meetups created, joined, and attended
- Messages sent and received
- App interactions and feature usage
- Check-in history and stats
Device Information
- Push notification token (FCM)
- Device type and operating system version
How We Use Your Location
Location privacy is central to Happy Hour's design:
- City detection: We use your device's GPS once during onboarding to determine which city you're in. This exact GPS coordinate is never stored.
- Neighborhood pin: Your map pin is placed at a random point within approximately 1 mile of your selected neighborhood's center. This offset is randomized and does not reflect your actual location.
- Live status: When you broadcast "I'm Here Now," your live location is offset by approximately 150 meters from the venue's actual coordinates.
- No tracking: We do not track your movements, build location histories, or store GPS breadcrumbs.
- No precise location sharing: Other users never see your exact location — only an approximate neighborhood area.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the App's core features (map, meetups, messaging)
- Display your profile to other nearby users
- Send push notifications about messages, meetup invites, and other relevant updates
- Match you with Coffee Crew members in your city
- Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
- Communicate with you about your account or the App
How We Share Your Information
With other users: Your profile information (name, photo, neighborhood, role, company, bio, interests, social links) is visible to other Happy Hour users in your area. Your approximate map location is visible on the map.
With service providers: We use Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) to operate the App. This includes:
- Firebase Authentication — for secure sign-in
- Cloud Firestore — for data storage
- Cloud Storage — for profile photo hosting
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications
- Firebase Analytics — for anonymous usage analytics
- Firebase Remote Config — for feature management
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers
- Provide your exact location to anyone
- Share your data with data brokers
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your profile information is permanently deleted
- Your messages are permanently deleted
- Your meetups you hosted are permanently deleted
- Your attendance is removed from meetups you joined
- Your Coffee Crew memberships are removed
- Your meetup invites (sent and received) are deleted
- Your waitlist entries are deleted
- Your check-in history is removed
- Your reports and meetup reports are deleted
- Your block records are deleted
- Your profile photo is deleted from storage
- Your Firebase authentication account is deleted
Some anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., total user counts, meetup statistics) may be retained for analytics purposes and cannot be linked back to you.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
- Secure authentication via Apple, Google, and Firebase Auth
- Firebase Security Rules to control data access at the database level
- Location fuzzing applied server-side before data is stored
No system is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access & Edit: View and edit your profile information at any time within the App
- Delete: Delete your account and all associated data from Profile settings
- Location: Disable location services for the App in your device settings
- Notifications: Control which notification types you receive in Notification Preferences
- Blocking: Block users to prevent them from seeing your profile or contacting you
- Visibility: Toggle "Open to Meet" off to reduce your visibility on the map
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: You can request details about the personal information we collect and how it is used
- Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights
- No Sale of Personal Information: We do not sell personal information

Children's Privacy
Happy Hour is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at team@joinhappyhour.com.
International Users
Happy Hour is currently available only in the United States. If you access the App from outside the US, you understand that your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. The "Effective date" at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
